The Nigeria Governors Spouses' Forum Secretariat is the administrative arm of the Nigeria Governors Spouses' Forum, established to ensure the sustainability of the forum's activities and operations. It is staffed by professionals and overseen by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) responsible for its daily operations.
The Nigeria Governors Spouses' Forum Secretariat (NGSFS) is made up of two (2) Departments namely; Finance and Administration, and Strategy and Research, each headed by an Executive Director. These Departments are composed of a number of units, with clearly defined schedules and responsibilities that work together towards achieving the objectives and goals of the Forum, as set out in the Strategic Plan 2010 – 2012.
The Finance and Administration Department of the NGFS is structured to provide an environment that fosters effective and efficient performance, and flow of the Secretariat policies, processes and procedures, in order to achieve the mission and vision of the Forum as a whole. The department ensures the application of best practices in all spheres of operations which is crucial to providing the necessary tools and equipment required in a learning organization which NGFS intends to become. The Department is made up of the following units: Administration/Accounts, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Protocol Services, with each of these units having defined responsibilities as stated below;
The Nigeria Governors Spouses’ Forum is pleased to note that the expedited action promised by the Governors and the advocacy efforts of Governors’ Spouses, has yielded significant results. In June 2020 when the State of Emergency was declared, only fourteen States had domesticated the VAPP Act. As of April 2024, 36 States (including the FCT) have passed the law.
Hauwa Haliru-Hassan is a Lawyer and a Human Resources Professional. She has over 20 years work experience as a legal practitioner in various organisations and in different capacities in the private sector.
She has extensive experience working with civil institutions and NGOs for the development of their research, management, implementation of policy, compliance, governance and risk- management system as well as regulatory frameworks.
Her core skill set includes: Project Management and Administration; Public Policy Development (for Government Agencies and/or Organizations); Corporate Governance / Compliance; Organizational Restructuring – Designing, Conducting Businesses Risk Assessments etc.
She is the Head of HR and Governance Unit at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and the Chief Executive Officer at the Nigeria Governors Wives’ Forum Secretariat (NGSF) Secretariat.
